Paul writes, “The love of Christ compels us.” (2 Corinthians 5:14) The love Paul has for Christ moves him along in the fulfillment of that commission given by Christ Himself, for Paul’s life. The compulsion the moved Paul should be in the heart of every believer. This realization that Christ is our all in all. Jesus made this perfectly clear when He stated, “You can do nothing without Me.” (John 15:5) Get this picture deep within your mind. Jesus is the vine, our source of nourishment, nutrition and strength. All that pertain to life and godliness has been provide by Him. Nothing has been withheld in this life from us. All that was given to Him, from the Father, we also share.
Jesus the vine is rooted in the Father and He is unmovable, omnipotent, omnipresent, righteous, and faithful. The vine bears the heat, cold rain, wind and snow, every adversity it endures. Why? For the branches to produce much fruit. This fruit does not grow to full maturity over night, it takes time with continual attachment to the vine. Christ, like this vine lives in us, the branches, producing this fruit. Acts 17:28 says:
“For in Him we live and move and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also His offspring.”
Live – Every breath, heartbeat and moment of our physical life is a gift sustained by God.
Movement – Our strength to act, physically and spiritually comes entirely from His sustained power. Every course we take is directed by God through the Holy Spirit.
Being – Our fundamental existence depends on Christ; we cannot be sustained in this life apart from Christ.
Jesus told us, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for a friend.” (John 15:13) Christ was the ultimate fulfillment of these words for us. Do you see how the love of God surpasses our understanding? We can’t comprehend His love in our natural minds, this must come through the Holy Spirit speaking to our hearts. This is described in Galatians 5:22, “The fruit of the Spirit is LOVE….” The closer we walk with Jesus, the more His love will manifest through us to the world.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Our God did this, even knowing some would reject His unconditional love for them.
Matthew 22:37, “And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”
The world does’nt have the wisdom to understand this totally unselfish love the Father has for His Saints, but we do. We as believers must give God His rightful place upon the throne of our hearts. We need to fear Him, in the reverential way only He deserves, by worship and praise. He has put us in right standing with Himself, through Jesus. He has given us His all, how can we do any less than give Him our all?
If you do not have this love mentioned above. I invite you to read
Romans 10:9-10 aloud and let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart.
Romans 10 :9-10, “that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
V. 10 For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.”
May Gods peace reign in you hearts through our Lord Jesus Christ!
Al S.
